Board of Commissioner Vacancy Deming Diking District #2
Applicants must be registered voters in the State of Washington and own land in the district they represent. Appointments are made by the County Council; the person appointed will serve a partial term until the next election in February 2020.
Applications are available in the Council Office; Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Avenue, Suite 105, Bellingham, Wa 98225, on the County Council website here, or by calling the Council office at 360-778-5010. Completed applications for this vacancy must be submitted to the Council Office by 10:00 a.m. September 3, 2019. Whatcom County Council will appoint the new Commissioner at its regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on September 10, 2019 in the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, WA unless otherwise announced. The Council Chambers is handicapped accessible. District boundaries are approximately the floodplain on the right bank of the Nooksack River from above Deming to downstream of Nugent's Corner. Duties: The Board of Commissioners shall have the exclusive charge of the construction and maintenance of all dikes or dike systems, including stream bank protection, which may be constructed within the district, and shall be the executive officers thereof, with full power to bind the district by their acts in the performance of their duties, as provided by lase (RCW 85.05.085)
