What is a Special Event
Any event doing any of the following is considered a special event:
Open to the Public
Selling food, alcohol or merchandise
Requires services or facilities not normally available to the general public
May disrupt or interfere with the public's regular use of the facility
The Application Process (complete application required to proceed)
Find your location
Submit the application at least 90 days prior to event
Submit requirements outlined in preliminary permit
Receive final permit
Permit Insurance Requirements
Whatcom County Parks & Recreation requires all Special Event Permits be insured for the term of the permit. The applicate shall obtain and file with the Department no less than 30 days prior to the event insurance that meets the minimum requirements. Fees for special events vary based on event activities. When you submit your application we can help estimate your fees.
Other Required Permits
Any event may require additional permits, approvals or services from other government agencies or County Departments.
