Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning Biotoxin at Unsafe Levels in Bellingham Bay

Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) biotoxin rose to the highest levels of the year in samples collected from Bellingham Bay this week. Recreational shellfish harvest remains closed for all of Bellingham Bay south to the Skagit County line. The levels of PSP biotoxin in the most recent samples are high enough that severe illness or even life-threatening symptoms are likely if mussels from the affected area are consumed.
