SUBMITTAL OF PAPERWORK FOR SERVICE
In order to effectively assist you, the Civil Division will need to know information about the person(s) to be served such as possible addresses, dates of birth, physical descriptors, phone numbers, service requirements and the deadline for service. We cannot serve your papers unless you provide us with a physical address. Please complete the “Service Request Intake Information Sheet” and forward it along with the paperwork to be served and advanced service fees. If you have special service requirements, i.e. personal service only or substitute service is allowed in what circumstances, please note them at the bottom of the Service Request Intake Form.
The Civil Division requires payment of service fees in advance and payment must accompany the paperwork at the time it is received for service. If you are uncertain of the amount to submit, you may contact the Civil Division for a price quote by calling (360) 676-6650. If you are submitting the paperwork in person, our office will quote you the amount required at that time.
We will accept payment in the form of cash, personal check or money order made payable to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. We do not accept “credit” or “debit” cards.

- Serve TWO (2) or more (same address) - $35.00
- EACH Return To Court - $15.00
- Mileage Fee - $.58 per mile w/$12.00 minimum
SUBPOENA:

CIVIL BENCH WARRANTS:
- Serve Defendant - $60.00

RESTRAINING ORDER/TEMPORARY (w/petition)

- Out-of-state papers will automatically be notarized unless we are instructed otherwise.
OTHER: All other documents & supporting papers for which no fee is provided herein - $30.00
MILEAGE: $.58 per mile w/$12.00 minimum
- Two round-trips (from the Sheriff’s Office to the residence/business and back) are automatically included in the computation of the advanced service fees. If we are able to serve the papers on the first attempt, you will be refunded the mileage for the second trip. If it takes more than two round-trips to complete the service, you will be billed for the additional mileage
ALL OTHER SERVICE FEES ARE LISTED ON THE INTAKE SHEETS FOR EACH OF THE VARIOUS PROCESSES – Real Property Executions, Personal Property Executions, Writs of Habeas Corpus, Replevins/Order Awarding Possession, Attachments on Real Property, Attachments on Personal Property, and Evictions.
