Whatcom County Public Works has applied to the state's County Road Administration Board, Ferry Capital Improvement Program, for the Lummi Island Ferry Replacement and System Modernization Project.
The Whatcom County Public Works Department submitted a RAISE Grant Application to the US Department of Transportation to modernize the Lummi Island Ferry System.
Replace the 60-year-old ferry that currently provides service to and from Lummi Island.
Adjust the terminal structures to accommodate the new vessel, as well as operational and upland modifications to preserve the functionality of the ferry system.
