Call Center for Flood Response

Whatcom County has established a Call Center for those impacted by recent flooding who might not have internet access. The Call Center phone number is (360) 788-5303.  The Call Center, open now, is intended to respond to callers between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Staff are prepared to respond to calls regarding:

  • How to get help (food, shelter, sandbagging, cleanup)
  • Current road conditions, shelter status
  • Reports on conditions from around the county (loose cattle, debris, infrastructure)
  • Resources available
  • Where to report damage

Reporting Flood Damages

Those with ANY flood-damaged property are requested to report their damages to Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management. 

  • Damage to businesses can be reported by calling the Damage Assessment Line at 360-788-5311
  • Use the Estimated Flood Damages Form to report home and rental damage. Para español, haga clic aquí
    • Fill this form out one time for each location where the damage occurred. Do not combine locations into one form.
    • Do not fill out this form if you have already called the Damage Assessment Line at 360-788-5311. We will be calling you if we haven’t already.

Whatcom County Waives Emergency Repair Permit Fees

In response to the extraordinary needs of County residents resulting from recent flooding, the County permit fee for emergency building repairs has been waived per an executive order signed by County Executive Satpal Sidhu on November 24, 2021. 

  • The emergency repair requests must be received by Whatcom County Planning & Development Services (PDS) no later than January 31, 2022, in order for the fee waiver to apply. 
  • The waiver only applies to Whatcom County permits. 
  • For residents of incorporated towns and cities, please contact your local jurisdiction for repair permit information.
  • PDS advises residents to take photos to document the damage and verify that repairs are necessary. Photos can be submitted via email to epermits@co.whatcom.wa.us. In-person appointments can be made via an online form or by phone (360-778-5900).

Mail Service in Areas Impacted by the Flood

Sumas Post Office The Sumas Post Office, and associated mail, have been relocated to the Lynden Post Office. The Lynden Post Office is located at 600 Front St., Lynden, WA 98264. The phone number is (360) 354-2371.

Everson Post Office The Everson Post Office is operational and is delivering to some areas. Mail for locations that are not accessible, or appear to be vacant, will be held at the Everson Post Office for pick up. The Everson Post Office is located at 108 Blair Dr., Everson, WA.  The phone number is (360)-966-4700.
