Starting Thursday, January 12, 2022, in response to an Executive Order calling for offices to limit as many in-person services as possible due to the increased incidence of COVID the Whatcom County Treasurer Steve Oliver, Whatcom County Auditor Diana Bradrick and Whatcom County Assessor Rebecca Xczar announced that appointments will be required for all in-office services.
In order to protect both citizens and the staff, appointments will be limited to reduce the number of people in the office. Further protections include required face masks for all individuals in the courthouse, public and staff, plexiglass at all the customer service counters, floor markings for 6 foot social distancing and hand sanitizer available at the door to each office.
The Auditor’s Office will be scheduling appointments between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the following services: marriage licensing, mobile home transactions, vehicle and vessel tab renewal and title transactions, and map recordings. Appointments may be made by calling 360-778-5100 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. The public is encouraged to first check our website at www.whatcomcounty.us/auditor as most services are available online, by phone, or by mail. Citizens may drop off transactions in the drop box outside the Auditor’s office. Voters who need in-person assistance may access the vote center by ringing the doorbell on the Auditor’s front door.
The Treasurer’s office will be scheduling appointments between 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the following services only: REET, mobile home, and long plat transactions. Appointments may be made by calling 360-778-5160 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The public is encouraged to first check our website at www.whatcomcounty.us/treasurer as most services are available online, by phone, or by mail. Please note that passport processing is NOT currently available.
The Assessor’s Office will offer appointments in 30-minutes intervals between the hours of 9:00-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. In-office services will include: customer support for new and renewal applications for the senior citizens and disabled persons tax relief programs; business personal property asset reporting support; Open Space and Designated Forestland program assistance; and property conveyance and mapping support services. Available appointment times may vary and will depend on the in-office schedule of staff members. All other services may still be conducted online, by phone, by mail, or by using a drop-box outside of each office. The public is encouraged to utilize these methods of transacting business whenever possible.
